Charlotte & Serkan
Villa Gamberaia is stunning. Situated some 15 minutes outside of Florence overlooking the Arno valley, it really is the epitome of Italian style and elegance. Just the thought of a Tuscany Wedding makes you think of warm sunshine, good food and wine and a wonderful day spent al fresco without worrying looks overhead to check what the clouds are carrying. And thats pretty much what sold it to Charlotte & Serkan when they decided to take their wedding vows at the top wedding venue in Tuscany. Given the day that was experienced back home in blighty, I think you could safely say the Villa Gamberaia option was probably the wisest!
I first met Charlotte whilst shooting her sister Georgie’s marriage to William a couple of years ago so it was fabulous to catch up with these guys too, as well as the rest of the clan obviously. Ever the polished orator, William did a magnificent job of Mr MC for the day and Georgie shone brightly as Charlottes Maid of Honour. A late(ish) ceremony allowed for the sun to drop a little but the ‘favour’ fans were still employed vigorously during the ceremony to keep cool whilst celebrant Andrea conducted proceedings from the top.
We had live confetti back down the aisle, yes, throw it when you should confetti, over the newly weds immediately on exit. So much better than the orchestrated or choreographed versions that we see so much of nowadays, and that sort of summed up this wedding really. It was a wedding as it should be. Organised well beforehand by Valentina & Elena from VB Events, but chilled and allowed to breathe on the day without any undue stress. The bigger picture being that Charlotte & Serkan got to enjoy Villa Gamberaia to its fullest and at its finest.
Serkan got battle ready for his saber the champagne challenge which he carried out with aplomb before slicing up the freshest wedding cake to a backdrop of sparklers overlooking night-time Florence in the distance. Quite what the locals would have thought of the dancing I have no idea but suffice to say, after Charlotte & Serkan sashayed on to the dance-floor with a splash of style, the rest of their guests polished off their Expresso Martinis and joined forces to ensure Mr DJ was kept busy late into the night.
Thanks to Valentina & Elena and their teamies and thanks to Italy for giving us the sunshine we all needed.
