KELLY & MARK – IF CHANEL DID WEDDINGS
Have it at your house!, make your own cake, use your Grannies old dress! are the sort ‘nuggets’ of advice given out to those who are thinking cost cutting and going down the DIY route for their wedding. However, if Chanel did weddings, they would probably be a tad more stylish and sage in their advice. Sure, make your own cake, but make sure you are one of the UK’s leading cake makers first! Have it at your house of course, but ensure its better than some venues out there. As for Grannies dress, she may well have donned her Chanel gown herself, so that’s maybe fair.
Either way, its safe to say that Coco herself would have been tres happy to have received an invite to Kelly & Marks wedding last weekend. Having already gone down the legal route the previous day as guests of Raymond at Le Manoir, a humanist ceremony was on the menu as the main course the following day. Why is it in a church? It is de-commissioned so not only can you bring an old building back to life and give it some love, you can pop the champers in there post ceremony too whilst listening to Get Gospel filling the air with some ‘toons’.
Kelly can usually be found at weddings on a Saturday and Mark is usually at the bar (the legal one) but this was different, this was their day, so although I did catch Kelly working and Mark at the bar, they were in their element, in their own space, surrounded by their nearest and dearest (even Harry the dog popped up to the church) as they celebrated is style.
All proceedings were brilliantly overseen by Isobel and her team, who were on hand to ensure everything ran smoothly, and also to provide the clumsey photographer with a plaster after tripping over one of the candles DOH!
So if you are thinking of a DIY wedding, be sure to do it in style. Coco would have approved me thinks.
