As any London wedding photographer will tell you, sometimes the quest for greenery in and around London wedding venues is a thankless task. No such issues however for Edie & Lorcan’s Barbican wedding as green is the new black in this part of town. Situated in the heart of the this cultural and architectural icon the conservatory really is a fab venue for weddings. Airy, spacious and current.
Arriving already as man and wife Edie & Lorcan decided to grace the space with a humanist ceremony to celebrate their respective characteristics, traits and personalities. With speeches and readings from those nearest and dearest who know them better than most, it really does hold appeal as there is an essence of authenticity that comes from Mum’s tears or brothers you hold dear. Couple this with some wonderful musical accompaniments and you start to get a feel for how well regarded Edie & Lorcan are by their peers.
Post ceremony we headed amidst the tree tops and alleyways of the Barbican that lead you around the botanical bounty. At one stage I half expected to hear David Attenborough in my ear offering insights into the locale with that fabulous voice of his. He would make a fabulous wedding celebrant wouldn’t he!
Originating from the grand old US of A Edie’s cohorts from childhood had made their respective journeys to the UK to join in with, and add too, the celebrations that were to take place in the evening after the wedding breakfast and speeches. Speeches which did their best to test the tears ducts for sure but heartfelt, sincere and delivered with aplomb nonetheless.
I would imagine that the evening party was an absolute blast as when I took my leave one of Edie’s bridesmaids was downstairs in the boogie bar doing a soundcheck and getting ready for the love fun and happiness that I am sure was to follow.
Congratulations Edie & Lorcan on a fabulous day.
