Annabel & Justin – An English Country Garden Wedding
Originating from Natal in South Africa but settled firmly in blighty, Justin probably experienced the English obsession with weather to the max in the build up to his and Annabel’s big day. As we all know planning anything outside in the UK comes with a package of worry and contingencies, however lady luck was our side and Annabel & Justin were able to make full use of the jolly splendid house and gardens that Annabel had grown up in and were able to show our South African cousins that we can do sunshine (ish) also.
I would imagine there is something extra special about celebrating your wedding day in the garden you used to play in as a child. Constant reminders of where you have come from coupled with the excitement and joy of where you are going in your new venture that is married life. As a parent myself, I suspect Annabel’s parents could not have wished for a better way to send their very own English rose off in such a manner.
As with all C of E weddings, its pretty much a lottery as a photographer as to whether you will be able to get some access to the ceremony. Some weeks you can, others not. Sometimes they say you can and then you can’t and vice versa but either way it matters not as the bigger picture for Annabel and Justin is that they got married surrounded by their nearest and dearest and their day was delightful.
Post church and back at home, we had cake cutting prior to speeches al fresco style before heading into the marquee (with its own little garden centre-piece) for dinner and cocktails before party time took hold with roaming saxophonists ensuring all on the dance floor remained as such, cutting shapes of all sizes and whilst being frequently re-fueled courtesy of the South African spirits on hand.
