Mayfair Wedding – Kat & Stephen (not Brian!)

A Mayfair wedding wouldn’t really be complete without The Connaught Hotel in the equation. Sitting right on the apex and ‘nearly’ overlooking Berkley Square it always provides a wonderful wedding backdrop as was the case last Saturday for the marriage of Kat & Stephen. I started with Kat and the kids at home to catch the beginnings of the day and their trundle in a horse & carriage to the Mayfair before we settled in for the ceremony and wedding breakfast prior to popping around the corner to the newly refurbished Annabel’s.

Whats was initially planned as an intimate and small wedding for 6 or 7 had grown somewhat to ten times that by the time Kat sashayed down the aisle to the dubious tones of the congregation in full voice and ‘Flower of Scotland’ and the ceremony did indeed bloom signalling the coming together of two rather fine families. Drinks and chinks were taken downstairs prior to lunch which was punctuated not only by speeches from the wedding ‘VIPs’ but also by anyone that wished to contribute. A sort of open mic session whereby the girls tended to say jolly kind and complimentary words about our stylish bride and the guys regailed stories past of our main man for the day and various adventures they have encountered together. Talking of style, I very rarely mention or even pass judgment on wedding gowns, primarily because I am not qualified to do so, but also because it matters not what I think, I am merely there to photograph it ‘in action’ as it were but in this instance I feel compelled to offer a mention. Kat was showcasing a mighty fine Roland Mouret number which I believe was overseen by the man himself, so for all you eager brides that are keen to know, then there is your answer.

As I took my leave from Annabel’s the party was getting a pace with cocktails and dreams on offer for those with the appetite for what I would imagine will have been a quite spectacular evening.

Thanks must go to Sophie & Nadia from The Connaught for their help on the day.
