SAM & BEN – DORCHESTER HOTEL WEDDING
Last time I photographed a Dorchester Hotel Wedding, it was for Sam’s sister Lauren, so it was particularly nice to be be able to catch up with some old friends the other Sunday whilst shooting Sam & Ben’s. Its true to say that no two weddings are the same, and although we were back in Dorchester County, Sam & Ben ensured that they had their personalities stamped firmly on their big day, not least with their midnight party guaranteeing that those who had not managed to cut some shapes already had ample opportunity to top off the celebrations with a late night boogie. Saying that though, it is very rare (in fact I don’t think I have ever seen it) that you will get an empty dance floor at a Jewish Wedding. All ages and abilities just get on and party leaving empty chairs and empty tables to sit back and admire the energy, life & love that these occasions bring. To Sam’s (and Ben’s) delight we even had the whole dance floor in full voice championing the new Mrs Hamburgers name. That sure beats a Facebook name changing ceremony anyday!
As with all the Jewish Weddings I photograph, Sam & Bens’ was full of energy, enthusiasm and a sheer sense of celebration. This is across generations as well, you as as likely to see 86 year old Grannie up and dancing as you are 5 year old Zara. Saying that though, its not without coincidence that Fil Straughn was in charge of the tunes with his band Strong Sensations! looks more like Luther than Luther!
Massive thanks and appreciation must go to the wonderful Julie Kim, who yet again proved to be an invaluable wing lady for the day.
