As a Wedding Photographer…
…its always nice to receive kind words from chuffed clients. I don’t often post these to Joe Public because by and large it can be an ego exercise, however I receieved this from Simon and Karem, whose wedding I shot in Scotland, and as much as it is relevant to them, I think it offers a wider insight.

“Mastery of a camera is a rare skill, but it is his self-mastery that sets him apart from others in his profession. There is no space for ego in the portrayal of reality through the lens of a camera; his talent is to float through the action, always seeing, never intruding, he is everywhere, and nowhere.
We met Jez a few weeks before the wedding to talk through plans and to get some pictures done. Amidst all the hardwork, it was a wonderful excuse to spend some time focussed on each other. To see our love shine through in Jez’s photos was a happy reminder of what the big day was all about and a hint that we had found a magician.
We saw our first photos before we were back from honeymoon. I think no couple dares to hope for more than one great pic to treasure; we have dozens. Jez caught moments we knew at the time were special, but also those we didn’t – either because we were too wrapped in our own emotions, or simply becuase his trireless professionalism had taken him places we couldn’t see.
Jez Dickson is a great photographer and a great man, who lives through his work and whose work affirms life.”

Studio Session
As much as I enjoy shooting weddings, sometimes I get asked to shoot some slightly different stuff, and being a photographer by trade , it is always fun to turn your hand to a slightly different genre. So Tuesday evening was spent in the studio shooting a session for the lovely Juliette, and here are a couple of faves!

Lucinda & Andy Get Married At Chelsea Town Hall
Always jolly friendly, the registrars at Chelsea Town Hall, and on Saturday morning, they were no different for Lucinda & Andy’s service. After which, a quick diversion for some photographs was the order of the day whilst ambling down to The Bluebird for luncheon. A flight on The London Eye with all their guests in tow (and some fireworks) followed, before hopping back over the Thames for dinner and Boogie Woogie at The Adam Street Club. Mighty fine crowd they were too, made me most welcome, which is always heartily appreciated.

Haymarket Hotel Wedding Party for Anke & Mig
Having officially got married in Ankes’ hometown near Cologne in Germany last month, Saturday was the UK leg of their celebrations. Held at the the rather swish Haymarket Hotel in town, around (and above) the swimming pool and cutting shapes to the Jazz Dynamos, it was a jolly fine celebration indeed. By the time I left the dancing was getting wilder and the pool was getting closer so I would imagine some sort of swim/dance (is there such a thing?) took place. All good fun.

You & Your Wedding Magazine Feature
The folk at You and Your Wedding have featured the wedding of Lizzie & Dom at Highclere Castle, for which I provided the wedding photography. Probably better know as Downtown Abbey these days, you can see snippets of the wedding by marching over to the YAYW site here.
Barnsley House Wedding for Kate & Grantley (and Jacob)
…And an outdoor one at that. Sooper dooper venue this, and made all the better by the finishing touches that Kate and her Mother worked on to give it such shine. One such touch that Kates mother Jane suprised them with, was getting all the guests to don masks of Kate & Grantley as they entered the reception (see below) to be faced with, well themselves, just 100 times over! Heaven knows what time the party went on till, but time the time I left the dancefloor was taking a pounding (mainly from guests attempting to moonwalk!) All good fun though, a fine day.
Should you wish to make Barnsley House your chosen venue, speak to Natalie. Top Drawer (she even made me a cup of tea!)
